Blizzard update on 1.22

Blizzard’s RTS community manager Karune has once again released an update on the status of the upcoming Warcraft III patch 1.22 and the no-CD patch 1.21b.
Yesterday the Blizzard e-sports team met with Rob Pardo the Senior Vice President of Game Design, Chris Sigaty the Lead Producer of StarCraft II, Dustin Browder the Lead Designer of StarCraft II and David Kim the Balance Designer of StarCraft II for what would be the second meeting to discuss balance issues within Warcraft III.
Under the microscope yesterday were some of the balance issues put forward to Blizzard by both professional players and community members. Certain issues were given extra attention “nerfs to Human Guard Tower repair rates are on the top of the balance list for these rounds of discussion,” as Karune explains.
Human towers have long since been subject to abuse, being a defensive structure yet used often very early in the game to put pressure on the orc base. The proposed change would make human towers significantly more susceptible to the Tauren Chieftens shock wave for example, such a change is liable to have serious repercussions on competition across all of Warcraft.
Battle.net itself might also see some changes as it has become outdated over the years, certainly when compared to some of the more recent networking programs “there is the possibility of additional Battle.net features to be added in Patch 1.22 that would further add to the longevity of the game online,” keeping interest alive in competitive Warcraft is also a priority according to Karune.
Once the list of changes has been refined details will be released, as will an estimated time of arival.
