Games list for Digital Games 2008
The Global Gaming League (GGL) revealed today the list of platforms that will be available at the Digital Games 2008, as voted by the community.
The titles are split into six categories, fighting, RTS, sports, FPS, driving and exhibition games. Within the six categories are twelve different competitive gaming disciplines, as voted by the community in a public pole on the GGL website.
Unsurprisingly, the staple of online first person shooters, Counter-Strike, was voted most popular in the poll. Call of Duty 4 won the second most popular vote for FPS games beating off the veteran franchises like Unreal Tournament and Quake.
Warcraft III is the choice RTS for gamers as was expected, although Command and Conquer 3 will also be present and accounted for, as will Defence of the Ancients.
The qualifiers will be broken up into five regions, North & Central America, South America, Europe, Middle East, Africa & India and finally Asia & Oceania. Regional qualifier ladders will be held for each region, the top ranked team from each country within that region will advance to the online regional final, the top three competitors from each region will then advance to the global finals in China later in the year.
The event is being organised by the GGL in association with the Beijing Olympics committee and Chinese government, the event will serve as one of several welcome events at the opening ceremony for the 2008 Olympic Summer Games in Beijing, China.
