Extreme Masters Playday 2

Playday two of the scheduled nine begins tomorrow and with the amount of talent participating, you know it’s going to be a good one.

Zdravko ‘Insomnia’ Georgiev recently announced he would leave SK and step back from gaming, as a result he will no longer competing in the Extreme Masters competition. Unfortunately for ToD fans, Insomnia’s retirement also means that ToD won’t be competing this week either.

DowaQ and Grubby will also be sitting out this week as their match was played at DreamHack a short while ago, so no luck there.

One of the more interesting games this week is XyLigan versus HasuObs. HasuObs having just made his way back from the KODE5 event where he took second place, he did play quite well but seemed to have some problem spots when up against orc. He took a hit early on in the first round versus orc, managing to avoid another one until the finals where he inevitably had to face dArk and after taking one set, faltered and lost the second quite convincingly. XyLigan also is doing quite well lately, having just recently taken first place in the Zotac cup, hammering DeMusliM in the finals. Both players are in their respective zones so it should be quite an interesting match up.

Also up this week is the newly re-homed DieSeL, having announced last night that he would be teaming up with Hoorai. He’ll be taking on Paladyn, who just last week managed to upset Zeus19 in a super sized range battle on Lost Temple. After destroying Paladyn’s main base in the first few minutes the battle shifted heavily in Zeus’s favour, but after failing to successfully destroy Paladyn’s expansion soon after, it wasn’t long before it was fortified and expanded. While leading Zeus around the map on a wild goose chase, Paladyn continued to pump out glaive throwers and eventually started to over power Zeus, leading to a victory for Paladyn. DieSeL could be a bit of a different beast but I wouldn’t be surprised to see three very close games.

As always match scores and replays will be added as they come, the bulk of this week’s matches are being played on the Tuesday so clear some space on your schedule because it’s going to be good one.
